Friends lost

I’ve always thought it strange that people I once considered friends would out of the blue no longer speak to me. As I get older, I know things change and relationships change, but to not communicate at all wasn’t something I anticipated. I remember one friend that was both in my church ward and one of my school teachers. I can still picture her house because it was the first time I’d seen a home bar (alcohol free) complete with bar faucets, fridge, and food. Her home was beautiful and we’d always been friends. Then one day at a big get together, I tried to talk to her and she said nothing. I was hurt by that and to this day I still have no idea what happened. I hope one day we can talk about it.

Girls, we need to get out of the house!

You know what I think would be fun? Going on a cruise with a big group of friends! All my mommy friends and I probably need a break and what better way to get together and relax than to take a cruise. I’ve actually never been on any cruises before, the whole Titanic thing scares me lol, but it still sounds like fun. Besides, cruise ships are better equipped today right? And of course all my friends would be with me and I’m sure we’d survive with our girl power and all. See, now you’re all excited and ready to go!! :)

Ahh, it feels so good

To be 25 for the second day. It's a lovely number don't you think? 25...25...25...It sounds like a nice number anyway. lol It feels like the prime of my life and I'm loving it. There isn't a time before now that I would want to go back to. Looking back on how far I've come and what I've learned, no, I like where I am just fine.

My birthday this year actually went much better than I had anticipated. Kara and Melissa took me out to dinner this past Saturday and we had the best girls night out (we miss you Kara!). Yesterday my husband tried to send me flowers at school (he goal was to embarrass me and it would have worked because I was in the front row of a classroom filled with about 60 students - I would have died) but the lady missed me and brought them by the house. They are beautiful and were completely unexpected; the perfect gift.

I made a Hawaiian Wedding Cake and we invited friends over to help eat it and play games. A few of my family members called and I received some wonderful e-cards from my online buddies. One of my SIL's completely surprised me by sending me three brand new books: Ella Enchanted (loved the movie), Pride and Prejudice (which I've never read but want to and thrilled to have my own copy!), and the Princess Academy. I so excited to start reading!

Long story short, it was the most fun birthday I've had in a long time. Thank you everyone who helped make my day special. :)

Fun baby shower

Today I threw a baby shower for a good friend of mine. It turned out to be a lot of fun and I'm glad I could do it for her. Another friend gave me a Hawaiian Wedding cake recipe to use at the party and it was delicious! I've never made one before and oh, it was so good! All it took was a regular cake mix that you bake like normal, poke some holes in it, then add crushed pineapple to the top. For the topping, you add pudding, milk, and whip cream. Mmmmm! The best part, it was super easy. Now if only I knew a way to serve you all some here on my blog. :)

Busy Saturday

At eight this morning I went out with the girls for breakfast. I ordered some yummy berry crepes and they were delicious! After we were done, I finished getting everything ready for a luncheon I was in charge of for my ward. We were eating soup-in-a-loaf and the soup was not cooking right. I concluded that my crockpot wasn't working right but thankfully I found a neighbor to let me borrow theirs. I was late getting to the church to setup but with some wonderful help, we finished well ahead of time. I had hoped more people would have showed up, but only a handful did. But it was great with those who did come and the food was delicious! (The best part, I haven't had to cook breakfast or lunch and we can eat leftovers for dinner. Woohoo!) I just finished studying/taking a test and now I'm headed to help a friend for a few hours. Keeping busy is helping me take my mind off things, which is good.
