This weekend I had the pleasure of greeting my newest little nephew to the world. My brother and his wife asked if we would come up and help watch their other children when my SIL when into labor. They called early Friday morning and we headed up to see them. The girls loved playing with their cousins and we waited patiently for the new arrival. After a few hours of being in the hospital he finally came!
Can I just tell you how wonderful it is to hold a newborn baby? Oh, he was such a sweetie and handsome to boot! I love the newborn baby smell and watching them sleep all snuggled up in a blanket. My girls were thrilled to get to hold him and give him loves and Spouse and I enjoyed our time with him too. I thought it might be hard being there and not being pregnant myself, but it was actually wonderful. In a way, I was living through them and sharing in their joy.
It wasn't until we came home and Miss J and I had this conversation, that I was a little sad:
Her: "Mommy, do you have a baby in your tummy?"
Me: "No sweetie, I don't."
Her: "I think you have a baby in your tummy."
Me: "No hun, I really don't. I'm so sorry."
Her: "But I want you to!"
Me: "I know. Me too."
I know she's too young to really understand the process, but it makes my heart sad to see her want a baby brother so much and not have one yet. Miss A is even picking up on it and she too is asking for a brother. I don't know what else to tell them other than we have to wait for when Heavenly Father is ready to add another addition to our family. For right now, we all will just have to enjoy other people's little babies. :)
