Friday through Saturday, I went out of town for a girl's night out with my family. What do you get when you put five sister-in-laws and two cousins together? Laughter, junk food, a late night, an early morning, and shopping.
I admit I was a bit nervous about going. I'm not one to sit with a bunch of girls, be giddy, talk like this "oh my gosh! I know!! That's like, so totally your style, oh my gosh! Like, what would we ever do without those?!" and paint toenails all night. But our party wasn't like that and I enjoyed myself. I don't do a lot of talking, but I did have some good laughs.
After dinner, we headed back to the hotel room for games. My favorite was peanut butter pictionary. I've never heard of this before and it was a hoot! You tape a garbage to the wall and smear it with peanut butter. Then you divide into teams and take turns drawing pictures for everyone to guess. It's a clever alternative to the regular Pictionary game and will be a hit with kids or adults.
After games and junk food, we laughed and talked for hours. I was ready for bed at midnight but everyone was still up. (I forgot to bring saline for my contacts and my eyes were tired!) By 2am they wanted to go swimming. I didn't feel up to it so I threw on my exercise gear and headed to the gym. Who says you can't work out at 2am? That's dedication right? lol By 4am we were in bed and sleeping.
See, now here's what I expected. I knew we'd be up late, but I figured since we don't have kids with us, we'd all sleep in. (That's what I would want to do! lol) But no, two of my sister-in-laws were up around 7am and getting ready. Needless to say that I am not bright-eyed and bushy-tailed after three hours of sleep. lol But after some breakfast I felt better and we left to do shopping.
After a few hours of that, I was back on the road headed home. While it was fun to get away, I had missed my husband and girls. (ETA: While I was gone, my husband cleaned the house, did dishes, and folded laundry for me, woohoo!) By 5pm Saturday, I was ready for bed again but had to stay up for dinner and a friend stopping by to chat. I conked out at 8pm and didn't move until noon today completely missing church in the process! lol
But, like I said, it was really fun and I look forward to going next year. My favorite part was getting to know my cousins better and doing some shopping just for me. If you don't already, schedule a GNO with your own family. It's really worth it. :)

Oh fun! I need a GNO :D
Fun! Except the three hours of sleep part. That sounds like not that much fun.
You were working out at 2am?!! Yup, that's dedication!!!
That sounds like tons of fun! Not too long ago my sisters, mom, and I went on a girls weekend to Cali, except for we did take the babies. Maybe next time we will leave the kids home....
Thank you so much again for watching Easton for me...sorry he cried all day for you, I think he is starting to become a bit of a momma's boy! Thanks again! It is very appreciated!
Yay! I love GNO's,sounds like you had a great one. :)
That sounds fun. I never do stuff like that...but maybe I should!

FUN!!!
I'm not quite clear on the game and what the garbage and pb have to do with rawing pictures.
Um... where did your dh find the time to do all that? My dh sometimes does that too, and I wonder how he got it all done when I don't think I could have myself! hahaha.
