There goes my break

Would you like to know something quite humorous? Sure you do! After your day, you're in need of excitement! Let me tell you all about it. :)

This week is finals and we all know how much studying is involved. So, hubby and I have been studying and studying, thinking that after finals, we'd get a break. You know, swinging in hammocks and drinking strawberry lemonade out of glasses with umbrellas in them. But noooo, that would be too easy.

See, I was picturing that after school let out (and having my umbrella drink), I would have plenty of time to finish my lesson for church this upcoming Sunday. Hubby wanted to enjoy some PS games and maybe frolic across the lawn (hmm, frolic isn't very manly, I should say "enjoy some outdoor leisure activities"). It would be a nice, relaxing week.

While we may be able to do some frolicking, most of our time will be spent preparing talks. That's right, we were caught on our way out of church and asked to speak this Mother's Day. Apparently, they checked the records from the past year and saw we haven't spoken. (We didn't feel it appropriate to correct them and say we actually haven't in the three years we've been in the ward. lol)

When we were told, hubby and I started laughing. At first, the gentleman asking us to speak was worried. We just laughed and said we were trying to stay under the radar. Not really lol, but we had gone so long without speaking, we assumed we'd not be asked. It's really not a big deal, we have plenty of time. It's just that now, I have both a lesson AND a talk to prepare. :P Naturally my husband thinks this is hilarious, silly man. I'm already worried about the lesson and now the extra pressure from a talk....well, I may need to make more cookies to get by. Or maybe Beth will eat some ice cream for me, she said she would, on my behalf of course. :)

There you have it. My relatively, not so humorous tale. I'm just rolling in laughter as I'm sure you are too. Whee. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going back to bed. I went to bed around 1:30am and then Miss A was up every hour until 6am and I had to get up at 6:30 because my final was at 7:30. :P Whee.

Holy cow, you are running on no sleep! How did you write such a coherent (not to mention HILARIOUS) post? "'Hmm, frolic isn't very manly, I should say "enjoy some outdoor leisure activities.'" Ha! "Would you like to know something quite humorous? Sure you do! After your day, you're in need of excitement!" Hahaha! "See, I was picturing that after school let out (and having my umbrella drink)" Hahahaha! Really. Good post. :-D

So I was a little worried about the "favor" you were asking on my blog but I think I can handle this one. I do need to go to the store and pick up some more ice cream, though, 'cause I finished off the one in the freezer on Sunday. (I mean WE finished it off!!! You believe me, right???)

And you know what? *I'M* speaking this Sunday for Mother's Day, too! My topic is "mothers." (Didn't see that one coming, did you?) I was told by the executive secretary to make special effort not to offend anyone. (Great.)

I also had a lesson to prepare for last Sunday and was very grateful I didn't have to think about them simultaneously. Sorry that it's happened to you, with finals on top of it all. :-( What's the lesson about? Who is it for?

I'm echoing Beth's questions . . . and sending *HUGS* to you . . . no fun for your relaxing time to be taken up by talks . . . *sigh*
Hopefully you CAN take some relaxing time soon! :)

oh yuck! Why do our kids know exactly the night we need the most sleep and haven't prepared well for it?
Every time I go to bed early because I know I'll need it, someone will puke in the night, or come down with a fever, or just be up for giggles.
I'm glad you feel like you did well on your test and hope you got a little cat nap for a reward.
I wish I could hear your talk, I just know you are going to be a speaker I would love to hear. Let me know if I can be of any help... I've got a whole bucket of ice cream in the freezer just waiting to hear the word.

Yikes! I don't envy you at all! I really hope your finals go well and your talks and lesson. Hopefully then you can get a break. I'll eat some more Oh Henry Bars for you if that helps :D
